world after graduation.

Courses

There are three courses provided at Horyuji Kokusai High School: the General Studies course, the History and Culture course, and the

Comprehensive English course. The General Studies course follows the same curriculum as other Japanese high schools, however the History and

Culture and Comprehensive English courses are different. In the History and Culture course, students get the opportunity to do field work at

various historic sites throughout Nara prefecture and learn the research skills necessary to deepen their knowledge of history and culture. In the

Comprehensive English course, classes with more emphasis on building English communication skills are offered with the goal of giving students

the tools to be effective communicators in English upon graduation.

School Events

At Horyuji Interational Highschool we have many unique school events such as the cultural festival andsports day. During the cultural festival,

depending on the class year students do things like open up food stalls or conduct dance performances or plays in front of their peers.

During sports day students compete against each other in various sports events (relay, tug of war) to determine the best class on sports day.

 International Exchange

Horyuji Kokusai High School conducts exchange with two sister schools, one in Germany and one in Australia. Every year, we alternate sending

students to each sister school for 2 weeks, a rare chance to conduct international exchange and expose and immerse themselves in a foreign

culture while also accepting students from the sister schools every year to allow our students plentiful opportunities for cultural exchange.
